Novak Djokovic retained his ATP World Tour Finals title with a convincing 6-3 6-4 win, over world number one Rafa Nadal in London on Monday.

The win extends his incredible unbeaten streak to 22 matches and means he claims the season-ending title for a third time in his career.

Rafa Nadal earned the year-end number one ranking after his remarkable return from injury in February.

But Djokovic denied him a first ATP Finals title as he moved his Spanish rival around the court and prevented him from dictating any of the play.

Nadal only managed to hit nine winners throughout the match and was broken on three occasions.

Djokovic demonstrating that on hard courts he holds the upper hand over the world number one, as he extended his head-to-head record on the surface to 13 wins to 7.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Novak Djokovic
"It's fantastic. This is the strongest tournament after Grand Slams, for sure. The competition is so high, the quality of tennis, every single match is the highest possible, you have the top eight players in the world. To have won all the five matches against the top ten in the world is amazing and, of course, today in the final against the number one in the world, it's a great achievement."

The Serb will now head to Belgrade, where Serbia take on the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup final from Friday.
