    Roger Federer kept his ATP World Tour Finals semi-final hopes alive with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Richard Gasquet on Thursday (7th November).

    Script:

    Six-time ATP World Tours champion Roger Federer faced Richard Gasquet - the eighth seed - in his second Group B match on Thursday.

    Federer lost to Novak Djokovic in his opening match and lost the first six points of this one.

    The Swiss then seemed to have taken control when he seized an early break, but he allowed Gasquet back in - the Frenchman breaking in the eighth game to level the set at 4-4.

    But Gasquet failed to hold serve and the former world number one strode through his own service game to take the opening set 6-4.

    Federer then opened a comanding 3-0 lead in the second set.

    Federer took six match points to close out the match , the fifth seed took a 6-4, 6-3 win to keep alive his hopes of a semi-final place.
