David Haye announces his return to boxing

Friday, March 29 2013 by SNTV
  • Intro:

David Haye confirmed on Thursday (28th March) that he will return to the ring against an unnamed opponent in June, rather than wait for one of the Klitschko brothers to give him a shot at a world title.

    Script:

"I want the heavyweight title back. I want to be the heavyweight Champion again. I was hoping that Vitali (Klitschko) would be a man of his word and fight me after I did what he and his team asked me to do, fight Dereck Chisora, the winner fights Vitali. That obviously didn't happen. He chose Manuel Charr over myself."

"Yes. Of course there is. There has been since straight away. I know what I'm capable of. I'm in there (the gym) everyday. I've watched back my sparring, I've watched back my fights. I know what I'm capable of and occasionally fighters underachieve. They don't perform at their maximum. It was one of those nights. Very rarely does that happen with me. I never anticipated having a bad night and not getting it right but you know, it happens and once you accept it and embrace it and make sure it doesn't happen again and that's the mindset I'm in. Make sure whatever wrongs need to be right are righted and that's what i've done and you saw in the Chisora fight that the old Hayemaker as everyone was saying was back. And you'll see once again whoever the unlucky soul it is that is left in the ring with me after that first bell in the Manchester Arena. You'll see some more of that magic."

"i'm healthy, I'm happy, I'm in a place where I believe I'm a couple of fights away from putting myself in that unavoidable mandatory position to one of the Klitschko brothers. Once I am in that mandatory position, whether they fight me or not remains to be seen but it will then put the spotlight on why they are not fighting me."
