China's Zou Shiming had his first public training session on Wednesday supervised by legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach.

Zou signed with Top Rank last month and their chairman, Bob Arum, has brought two time Olympic gold medallist to America to train.

Roach was impressed by what he saw from his new student, and predicted Zou to follow in the footsteps of another Pacific Rim boxer.

    SOUNDBITE (English): Freddie Roach:
"He's great. He actually reminds me a young Manny Pacquio when he first walked in my door. He had unbelievable talent, well beyond his years, and I've got a duplicate here. I've taken two fighters from amateurs to world championships Virgil Hill, and Brian Viloria I think he is gonna be my third."

The 31-year-old Zou has a wealth of amateur experience. Fighting in the light-flyweight class, he won a bronze medal at the Athens Olympic Games and went on to win gold in both Beijing and London.

In addition, Zou won three gold medals at the World Amateur Championships; winning in 2005, 2007 and 2011.
