Intro:
Anibal Sanchez shut down the Yankees line-up and the Detroit Tigers capitalized on a missed call by an umpire to beat New York 3-0 Sunday at Yankee Stadium for a 2-0 lead in the American League Championship Series (ALCS).Script:
SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Girardi, New York Yankees Manager (On effect of blown call):
"It is different if it's 1-0 than 3-0. It's a lot easier for a reliever to relax. He knows if he makes one mistake, it is still 3-1. I am not saying we win the game if the call is right. I am not saying that. And I am not saying if the call was right, last night that we win the game last night either. But in this day and age there is too much at stake, and the technology is available. That's what our country has done. We have evolved technology to make things better."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jim Leyland, Detroit Tigers Manager (On team's offense):
"I thought we hung in there and took advantage of a couple of things, and (Avisail) Garcia was able to muscle one in there. He didn't hit it hard but in the right place. And those are some of the things you need in postseason play. You never know how it's going to play out. A blooper here or there. And I thought Miggy (Miguel Cabrera) came alive pretty good, and Prince (Fielder) had a great atbat against (Clay) Rapada. We played good in a tough place to play against a great team. You have to be very happy with that."
