Defending U.S. Open champion Novak Djokovic was looking to secure his passage to the semi finals when he took on 2009 winner Juan Martin del Potro.

The Serb took the opening set 6-2.

But the Argentine came out strong in the second set, taking the first two games against a shell shocked Djokovic.

What followed was an incredible show of tennis.

Del Potro serving for the set at 5-4 when Djokovic turned it on its head.

Then a tie break. and a 20-stroke masterpiece of a point fit for a pair of past U.S. Open champions.

Djokovic took that set as well and then went on to wrap up the match 6-2 7-6 6-4.

Djokovic will face Ferrer in the semi-finals on Saturday.
