The unseeded pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Bruno Soares defeated fourth seeds Kveta Peschke and Marcin Matkowski to claim the US Open mixed doubles title on Thursday.
The final went to the wire as Makarova of Russia and Brazil's Soares eventually completed a 6-7 6-1 12-10 victory.
It was the second time in three years that Peschke has finished as runner up but it was joy for Makarova, who lost the 2010 Australian Open mixed doubles final.
