Intro:
Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki will take on seventh seeded Russian Maria Kirilenko in the semi-finals of The New Haven Open after both players cruised to victory in their quarterfinal matches.
Script:
Caroline Wozniacki won the first set of her New Haven Open quarter-final against Dominika Cibulkova with relative ease on Thursday.
But the Dane suffered a recurrence of a troublesome knee injury.
Wozniacki was forced to take a medical time-out after landing awkwardly.
However, the world number eight remains on course for a fifth consecutive New Haven title after a 6-2 6-1 victory.
And that knee problem isn't too serious.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Caroline Wozniacki, World number eight
"Yeah it wasn't the last turn, it was the second last one and yeah, I'm not sure exactly what happened but when i landed, all of a sudden i just felt the sharp pain and then when i played the last return before i called the trainer i was like 'i feel the pain' and needed get it looked at, get it taped up and then maybe i will feel better."
Wozniacki will face Maria Kirilenko in the last four after the Russian defeated Olga Govortsova in straight sets.
Kirilenko ruined Govortsova's 24th birthday celebrations with a 6-1 6-2 victory to progress to her second New Haven semi-final in three years.
But the odds are against Kirilenko to make the final - Wozniacki has won all five of the pair's previous meetings.
