Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova captured the 2012 Mercury Insurance Open title on Sunday using her superior power to batter top seed Marion Bartoli from the baseline and secure a routine 6-1, 7-5 win.

Second seed took on top seed for the 2012 Mercury Insurance Open final on Sunday the 22nd of July, with Dominika Cibulkova meeting Marion Bartoli for the title.

Cibulkova's strong ground strokes dominated the Frenchwoman in the first set. The Slovakian won the last six games and saved all three break points in the set on her serve.

But Bartoli bounced back with a pair of service breaks in the second set to jump ahead 4-1.

Cibulkova then ran off four consecutive games to take a 5-4 lead. With Cibulkova up 6-5, she broke Bartoli when the Frenchwoman hit a forehand into the net.

The 6-1, 7-5 victory a routine one for Cibulkova and giving her a timely boost ahead of what promises to be an intense few weeks.
