  • Intro:

Andy Roddick recovered to beat Gilles Muller in the Atlanta Open final in three sets on Sunday (July 22nd).

    Script:

Fourth seed Andy Roddick took on Luxembourg's Gilles Muller in the final of the Atlanta Open on Sunday (July 22nd).

Most expected the big serving American to win comfortably, however Muller made Roddick's serve look sluggish as he broke several times in the opener with some aggressive play, and eventually took it 6-1 with an ace.

Roddick was clearly having trouble with his right arm, but it didn't show in the second set as it went the distance with the 2003 US Open winner taking the tie-break 7-2.

From then on Roddick dug deep and continued to hit winners from all over the court as the patriotic crowd got behind their player.

Typically, Roddick closed out the match with an ace: 1-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2 to secure his 32nd ATP World Tour title.
