Thomaz Bellucci and Janko Tipsarevic secure place in Gstaad Open final

  • Intro:

2009 champion Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil and Serbian top seed Janko Tipsarevic will contest the final of the Gstaad Open in Switzerland.

It followed tough wins over Grigor Dimitrov and Paul-Henri Mathieu, respectively.

    Script:

The world number 60, Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci, faced the man one place below him in the rankings, Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, in the semis of the Gstaad Open.

Bellucci, who claimed his maiden ATP World Tour title here in 2009, just had the edge in a rain-interrupted clash.

The players swapped service breaks twice - with Bellucci coming out on top in two tie-breaks for a 7-6 7-6 success.

The 24-year-old South American clinched victory in one hour and 55 minutes to reach his fourth ATP World Tour final and his first since February 2010.

He also beat Dimitrov at Queen's Club in June.

Bellucci will face Janko Tipsarevic in the final - the top seed having come through against France's Paul-Henri Mathieu.

The first set was a marathon as both players showed flashes of brilliance.

However, having survived and held a series of set points, Tipsarevic eventually took a tie-break by 12 points to 10.

The gutsy Serb - who picked up his first clay-court title in Stuttgart last weekend - gained the only break in the second set in the sixth game.

Mathieu's challenge faded as he hit a straightforward forehand long.

Tipsarevic went on to close out a 7-6 6-3 victory with an ace on his first match point.

For Mathieu, the 2007 title winner who missed all of last year with a knee injury, it won't have been an easy defeat to accept.
