Tamira Paszek and Angelique Kerber record semi-final wins at Eastbourne on Friday to set up a meeting in the final.

    Script:

Austrian Tamira Paszek faced fourth seed and defending Champion Marion Bartoli in the first semi-final of the AEGON International in Eastbourne on Friday.

Bartoli made a strong start and took the opening set 6-4.

But Paszek put her under increasing pressure in the second set and secured a timely break in the 12th game with a slick backhand to take the set 7-5 and level the match.

Bartoli received treatment to her left thigh midway through the third set and although she continued to play, the injury continued to cause her problems.

Paszek took full advantage, and closed out an impressive win 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 with a deft forehand drop shot.

Fifth seed Angelique Kerber powered through the opening set of her semi-final with Klara Zakopalova.

The Czech player seemed woefully out of her depth as Kerber captured the set 6-0.

Zakopalova put up more resistance as the second set got underway but was unable to force her way back and put a weak service return into the net to hand Kerber a 6-0 6-3 win.

Kerber and Paszek will now meet in the final on Saturday.
