Sunday, June 17 2012 by SNTV

  • Intro:

On Friday, June 15th, the weigh-in was held for Saturday's Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. WBC world middleweight title defense against Ireland's Andy Lee.

    Script:

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee stepped onto the scales on Friday afternoon ahead of their world middleweight title bout.

Chavez Jr. weighed in at 159 pounds while Lee tipped the scales at 159.25 lbs.

Lee, who boxed for Ireland in the 2004 Olympics, carries a 28-1 record with 20 knockouts.

He enters the fight riding a four-year, 13-bout winning streak with eight of those victories coming inside the distance.

Lee's opponent Chavez Jr, who's trained by highly regarded trainer Freddy Roach, brings a 45-1 record with 31 knockouts into the ring, and the American trainer has warned Chavez of what to expect from Irishman Lee.

Saturday's bout will be the first world championship fight to be held in the Sun Bowl Stadium since 1998 when Oscar De La Hoya knocked out Patrick Charpentier in the second round to retain his welterweight crown.
