Third-seed Tomas Berdych began his grass-court season with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over Viktor Troicki at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, Germany.
Berdych, who was a Wimbledon finalist two years ago, dominated on serve as he failed to give up a break point while winning 88% of the points behind his first serve.
Fifth seed Milos Raonic was also an easy winner, beating Chinese qualifier Ze Zhang 6-1, 6-1.
