Caudal holds nerve to win German Open

    Anne-Lise Caudel beat Laura Davies in a nail-biting play-off to win the Ladies German Open in Munich on Sunday.

    Script:

    The Ladies German Open reached a thrilling climax at the Golfpark Gut Hausern in Munich on Sunday. 

    While England's Laura Davies and Frenchwoman Anne-Lise Caudal battling it out at the top of the leaderboard Felicity Johnson produced the round of the week as she shot an eight-under par 64 as she finished fourth on 9-under. 

    Despite Johnson's round she finish four shots off the lead as Davies and Caudel both shots rounds of 67 to end on 13-under, forcing a play-off. 

    Having tied the first hole Caudal put herself in pole position for the win with a superb third shot at the second sudden death hole. 

    After Davies missed her birdie putt her French adversary managed to hold her nerve to role in her putt for a birdie and the championship.

    "I can't believe it yet. It was an amazing week after a tough first round (Caudal carded a two-over-par 74 on Thursday). But then ... I'm very happy, a lot of emotion right now."

    The win is the second of Caudal's career after victory at the Tenerife Open via another play-off in 2008.
