The end of the first day of the German Open at Golfpark Gut Hausern near Munich saw a four-way share of the lead.

But on the second day the players began to separate themselves.

Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg played in the windiest of the day's conditions in the morning and made her score with three birdies on the front nine.

She sank crucial birdie putts from 45 and 70 feet respectively at the seventh and eighth holes. She was level on the back nine after a bogey on the par-five 11th and a birdie on 16.

Austrian Stefanie Michl played in the afternoon and recorded a hard-fought 71. She played a solid round on day one and got round on day two thanks to some effective putting.

Scottish teenager Carly Booth will be full of confidence after sharing the lead after day one and winning the Scottish Open three weeks ago.

Her round of 71 included five birdies and four dropped shots. She played solidly from tee to green but was disappointed to record four three-putts.

Klara Spilkova, who at 17, is two years Booth's junior, got around bogey-free with two birdies at the 11th and 13th, ending the day on 70.

Joanna Klatten of France also finished in the chasing pack at the end of day two.

Meanwhile, Solheim Cup winner and local favourite Sandra Gal posted a four under par 68 after holing a 20-footer for birdie on the ninth - her final hole - in front of a jubilant home crowd.

The winner will take home 52,000 euros in prize money plus an Audi A5 cabriolet.
