Serena Williams to play Victoria Azarenka in Madrid final

  • Intro:

World number one Victoria Azarenka cruises into the final of the WTA Madrid Open with 6-2, 6-4 win over Agnieszka Radwanska on Saturday

    Script:

Victoria Azarenka had already played Agnieszka Radwanska five times this season before meeting her in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open on Saturday.

The Belorussian had won all five.

Azarenka continued her dominance over the Pole by taking the first set 6-2.

The world number one had an answer for everything Radwanska could throw at her in the second set.

Azarenka wrapped up a 6-2 6-4 win to set up an intriguing final against Serena Williams.

In a reversal of her record over Radwanska, Azarenka has lost six of her seven matches against Williams.

The American produced a convincing display to defeat Lucie Hradecka.

The Czech qualifier forced a tie-break in the opening set, but she tired as Williams came out on top.

Hradecka's resistance crumbled and the former world number one capitalised as she sealed a 7-6 6-0 victory.

Hradecka will have fond memories of the tournament though after defeating defending champion Petra Kvitova and Sam Stosur on her way to the last four.

But all eyes are now on Sunday's decider between Williams and Azarenka as the pair meet for the first time on clay.
