Richard Gasquet took on Daniel Munoz for a place in the semi-finals of the Estoril Open on Friday.

The Frenchman was broken in the seventh game of the opening set but broke straight back with a superb backhand winner before going on to take the first set tie-break.

Gasquet made light work of the second set as he sealed a 7-6 6-2 victory over his Spanish opponent to reach his first semi-final of the season.

The world number 18 will face Albert Ramos in the last four.

Defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro is also through after a straight sets win over Albert Montanes.

The Argentine had lost the pair's only previous meeting but he won the first set 6-2.

Del Potro's 6-2 6-2 victory sets up an intriguing semi-final clash with number three seed Stanislas Wawrinka after the Swiss player defeated Robin Haase earlier in the day.
