Bader takes unlikely LPGA lead in Hawaii

Friday, April 20 2012 by SNTV

  • Intro:

World number one Yani Tseng is one shot behind Beth Bader, a player ranked 400 places below Tseng, after the first round of the LPGA LOTTE Championship in Hawaii.

    Script:

Windy conditions at Ko Olina resort in Hawaii greeted golfers on day one of the LPGA LOTTE Championship.

So, Sandra Gal took an orthodox approach to the 18th.

The German ended the day one over par but HSBC Women's Champions winner Angela Stanford is tied for second on three under.

Yani Tseng has won three of the first six tournaments this year and the Taiwanese showed her form with a terrific approach to the sixth.

The world number one is part of a group of four players on three under par, one shot behind unlikely leader Beth Bader, who is without a win in 13 LPGA seasons.

Bader is ranked 401st in the world and is making her first LPGA start of the year.
