  • Intro:

Former PGA Tour player Scott Hend of Australia carded a six-under 64 to win the rain-hit Singapore Classic on Sunday.

After heavy rains disrupted play during the week, the tournament was reduced to 54 holes and Hend won it by a stroke after finishing on an 11-under-par 199 total.

Four players were tied for second that included rookie American David Lipsky, Sri Lankan Mithun Perera, Taiwan's Lu Wei-Chih and Javi Colomo of Spain.

    Script:

No signs on Saturday of the rains that had blighted the Singapore Classic all week.

Shaaban Hussin had led the pack overnight but found the going tough early on.

He missed a short birdie putt on the second hole and ended tied for 13th with an even-par 72.

Spain's Javi Colomo impressed with his iron play as this approach on the 17th hole set up birdie.

Colomo shot a 67 to finish at 10-under overall and tied for second with Lu Wei-chih.

The Taiwanese played one of the best shots of the day, sinking this birdie putt from the edge of the ninth hole.

Mithun Perera's career reached new heights on Saturday as the special invitee briefly held the clubhouse lead at 10-under.

Scott Hend had an explosive start with a hat-trick of birdies on the first three holes on the final day.

Hend set up his eighth and final birdie of the day with a spectacular approach on the 18th hole.

This birdie putt moved him to 11-under, making him the outright leader.

American rookie David Lipsky emerged as the only threat.

Lipsky reached the 18th green at 10-under and needed to birdie the last hole to set up a play-off.

But he just missed, handing Hend the victory.
