Digvijay Singh made a late charge to close with a flawless six-under-par 66 and ended an agonising 12-year wait for his maiden Asian Tour title at the Panasonic Open India on Sunday.

Singh produced a grandstand finish with a 12-foot birdie putt on the last to defeat Siddikur of Bangladesh and fellow Indian Gaganjeet Bhullar by two shots at the $300,000 event.

It was back to Delhi Golf Club for the final round of the Asian Tour's Panasonic Open on Sunday (1 April).

Overnight leader Ashok Kumar showed how to get out of trouble on the twelfth hole when chipped out of the bushes to set up a par-saving putt and stay on top of the leaderboard.

But Kumar faltered badly, opening the door for Gaganjeet Bhullar, who moved into the lead after a birdie on the 13th hole.

Bangladesh's Siddikur also made a run late, collecting a birdie on the 14th as he moved to within a shot of the lead.

Digvijay Singh, who was still looking for his first career Asian Tour victory, came charging down the back nine, setting up a birdie with this second shot on the 14th.

Singh continued, moving into the lead with another birdie on 16.

Clinging to a one shot lead over Bhullar and Siddikur, Digvijay Singh then closed the door with a pressure birdie putt on the last hole to win by two shots after a final round 66.

Singh, who had recently lost his tour card, embraced his brother-in-law and Asian Tour veteran Jyoti Randhawa as they celebrated his maiden victory on the Asian Tour.

The 40-year-old enjoys skydiving in his spare time, but said afterwards no thrill could compare to his first career Asian Tour win.

Siddikur and Ganganjeet Bullar finished tied for second place at nine-under after final round scores of 68 and 70 respectively.
