World number one Yani Tseng, the LPGA Tour's dominant figure, birdied her final hole to grab an early two-shot lead in the second round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, California on Friday.

Excellent conditions at California's Rancho Mirage led the way for some terrific golf during the second round of the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Amy Yang had not read the script though, her tee shot on the 14th found the water and Yang had to settle for a bogey - she finished with a two over round of 72.

Yani Tseng is searching for her a sixth major victory, the Taiwan star holed a great putt on the 13th for birdie.

And Tseng birdied the 14th as well to continue her surge up the leader board.

The world number one holed her fifth birdie of the round on the last to enter the clubhouse as leader on eight under after a four under round of 68.

Haeji Kang is one shot behind, helped by a birdie on the seventh.

After finishing the opening round in second, Australia's Lindsey Wright maintained her form with a magnificent eagle on the ninth.

Wright was pretty good on the greens as well, moving to eight under on the tenth to share the lead with Tseng - but she would eventually finish the day two strokes back.

The shot of the day goes to Jenny Shin who won herself a new car for this hole in one on the 17th.

But it is Tseng that is driving towards her third consecutive LPGA title.
