Yani Tseng held off Ai Miyazato and Na Yeon Choi on Sunday to win the LPGA Founders Cup.

The top-ranked Taiwanese star won her 14th LPGA Tour title and second in four events this year. She closed with a 4-under 68 to finish at 18 under, one stroke ahead of Miyazato and the second-ranked Choi.

Because of lightning near the Wildfire Golf Club, play was delayed three times for a total of three hours. Tseng holed her winning 2-foot putt at 6:45 p.m (23,45 GMT). - 8 hours, 4 minutes after the leaders teed off.

The final round of the LPGA Founders Cup was played in bitterly cold temperatures on Sunday.

Joint leader Yani Tseng tried her best to keep herself warm at the Wildfire Golf Club Course in Phoenix.

Earlier in the day, Tseng was three shots behind Ai Miyazato at the turn but the Taiwanese player birdied five of the first six holes on the back nine including this lengthy putt at the 16th to lead the field.

The 24-year-old Tseng, who successfully defended her LPGA Thailand title in February, found herself in trouble on the 16th after a wayward tee shot.

She played a remarkable shot from the rough onto the green to save par before making another at the 17th.

Going into the final hole, Tseng lead Miyazato and Na Yeon Choi by one shot.

After Tseng hit her 40-foot birdie attempt 2 feet short, Choi came up 4 feet short on a 30-footer on a similar line.

Tseng putted for the one shot victory and her 14th LPGA career title .

"I have just been really patient today. I did not have a good front nine but I told myself 'be patient and you still have nine holes to go and you can make some birdies like the first day' and then I played well on the back nine."

Tseng now has five victories in her last 11 starts.
