Klitschko - the movie

Tuesday, March 13 2012 by SNTV

  • Intro:

The film "Klitschko" had its premier in Ukraine on Monday when the brothers, Vitali and Wladimir, went to a screening in Kiev.

The documentary, directed by Sebastian Dehnardt, is a portrait of the brothers' lives, from childhood to the time both were crowned boxing world champions.

    Script:

Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko presented their first documentary to fellow Ukrainians in Kiev on Monday.

"Klitschko" tells the story of the boxing world's most famous brothers.

From the socialist drill of their childhood in the Ukraine, and their first successes as amateurs, to their move to Germany and their subsequent rise as international stars on the verge of holding the championship titles of all five boxing federations.

Wladimir secured this with his unanimous World Boxing Association win against David Haye on July 2, 2011 and there's been talk of another fight, this time against Vitali.

    (Russian) Vitali Klitschko, boxer

"Yes, that's true, we had some discussions (with Haye). This fight has a real interest. But when we'll underline all and sign a contract, if Haye will quieten his appetite as he is not world champion any more. I'm reminding him all the time. If we sign, we'll call a news conference to say about the day, time and place of the fight."

But he's getting on a bit and is Vitali considering giving up the gloves anytime soon?

    (English) Vitali Klitschko, boxer

I'm 40. I'm the oldest champion in the world. But anyway, I don't want to brake George Forman's record. He was world champion at 45. I definitely don't want to do that. I'll make plans and will concentrate on politics. Because I believe Ukraine has huge potential."

And brother Wladimir's still fighting too.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Wladimir Klitschko, boxer

"I'll make sure that I'm ready for the next event in June or July. It's going to be against Tony Thompson and accordingly I'll do anything possible to win and defend my titles as impressive as possible."

And here's a taster of the film.
