Arshavin signs shirts on return to Zenit

    Russia captain Andrey Arshavin appeared in front of the cameras in St. Petersburg, Russia on Wednesday (7th March), for the first time since completing his loan move from English Premier League outfit Arsenal back to his former club, Zenit.

    Script:

    Andrey Arshavin was back in his home towm of St. Petersburg on Wednesday, signing Zenit shirts for fans at the club shop.

    The Russia captain signed a loan deal to take him back to his former club last month and the 30 year-old striker is expected to see out the rest of the season with the Russian champions.

    "For the week or 10 days that passed after signing (the loan deal), I was in St. Petersburg for two days only. From today I will be in St. Petersburg all the time, even if I was in London only yesterday."

    Arshavin initially made a big impact at Arsenal but in recent months he had become a peripheral figure.

    After season of cameo appearances for the 'Gunners', both club and player agreed he needed first team football going into Euro 2012.

    The Zenit fans are happy, even if they are being short-changed.

    "My autograph has become shorter if we compare it to before. It is because they've made new shirts. I won't judge how beautiful it is or not."

    Arshavin made his second 'debut' for Zenit on March 3rd, playing 55 minutes in a 2-2 draw at CSKA Moscow.
