Benfica advanced to the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday after beating Zenit St. Petersburg 2-0 on the night to overhaul a 3-2 first-leg deficit and go through 4-3 on aggregate.

Maxi Pereira put Benfica ahead on away goals in first-half injury time and Nelson Oliveira made the game safe in second-half injury time.

After the match Zenit coach Luciano Spalletti and Benfica boss Jorge Jesus reflected on the game.

SOUNDBITE: (Italian), Luciano Spalletti, Zenit coach

"We achieved a good result. And when you get to this stage it's difficult to find squads that show weaknesses. We find squads with a lot of quality, as we did in the round where we sent Porto out and as we did tonight. We know that getting to this stage was surely a good result"

SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese), Jorge Jesus, Benfica coach

"When you get to this stage in the Champions (League) with 8 teams, all with great value, we had to be very brave to beat Zenit and Benfica players had to show all of their quality"

SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese), Jorge Jesus, Benfica coach

"I don't have any preferences (for the next round). It's true that we adapt very well when playing English teams but at this stage the only possibility is Chelsea so, we will accept with confidence whatever comes out of the draw, because we believe that anything can happen at this stage"
