Goal-line technology could be in place for the 2014 FIFA World Cup according to FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke, after two systems were approved for further testing on Saturday (3rd March).

English Football Association General Secretary Alex Horne added that the technology would be subject to further rigorous examination and said they would "test it to failure".

Valcke also hit back at Brazil's Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo who has asked to work with a different FIFA representative after the Frenchman had criticised local organisers of the 2014 World Cup - Valcke said the move was "puerile".

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) held its annual meeting at Bagshot in England on Saturday.

Among the issues for discussion was goal-line technology.

IFAB approved two systems for a final round of testing - Hawk-Eye and GoalRef, while six systems failed to meet standards required.

Further rigorous examinations will take place.

English Football Association General Secretary Alex Horne said they would "test it to failure" adding that "it must be accurate, otherwise it's not worth having".

A system could be approved at an IFAB meeting on July 2nd.

FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke said goal-line technology could be in place by the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but hopes to have it in place in time for the Club World Cup in December and for the 2013 Confederations Cup.

IFAB will also undertake safety checks into the use of head scarves in football.

Valcke said it would mean "women will have access to football, when today they cannot do."

On Friday, Valcke criticised local organisers of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and said "things are not working in Brazil" and that "not a lot is moving".
