Edgar Davids praised his former team-mate Zinedine Zidane ahead of the UEFA Champions final in Milan, Italy.

"Sometimes it's hard because you are starting and you know you really don't expect to excel in the first year and if you do so then you really set the bar. But the problem is what do you do after?

Q: So I suppose should he win the Champions League he's almost making life difficult for himself in some ways?

"Absolutely. The expectations are going to be extremely high after that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Edgar Davids (Q: You know Zidane well from your days with Juventus, how does he deal with the pressure?)

"Some people excel when they are under pressure, some people you don't. And if you know his career, in the moments he had to excel he exceeded every expectation of everybody and just showed up and get the result. That's what he is doing right now."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Edgar Davids (Q: Zidane can become the seventh player to win the European Cup as a player and a coach, how much of achievement is that?)

"It's unbelievable. I think it also shows that ex-football players, ex-top football players, can become great coaches, because before that they said it was not the case. If you talk about also Diego Simeone, I didn't think he even won the Champions League, you see that he played for Lazio, Atletico Madrid, also good sides, top sides and still he is doing well. So I think that is good for ex-football players."
