Former Germany captain Bastian Schweinsteiger spoke to journalists at a press conference in Duesseldorf on Tuesday (30th August)

"My dream is to play for Manchester United and to help them achieve the goals they have set. There have been talks - I have been talking to Jose Mourinho, we have no problem. He explained his situation. I know about the interests of Manchester United but I also know what I want. I have to wait and see how things will develop in September and October. It is a very respectful exchange between the parties, this is very important to me. But obviously I will not stop playing football."

"The transfer windows is closed at this point, so nothing will happen now. My dream is to keep on playing for Manchester United and I believe in this dream if I get a fair chance. I played the semi-finals of the European Championship with a team that is reigning world champion. I believe in my skills and it still is my dream to help Manchester United."
