-
Reaction from the Emirates Stadium in London after Arsenal took a step closer to Champions League qualification and deepened Norwich City's relegation worries with a 1-0 victory on Saturday (30th April), courtesy of a 59th minute winner from substitute Danny Welbeck.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(on the result being a much-needed win)
"Much wanted, needed and difficult, but we played against a team that was very well organised, we didn't find a good pac in our game, but we were serious and organised and in the end we got the win."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
"But this season is a bit special, because we were in a position for a long time where our fans thought we could win the league and we didn't and so that's why I think it's more disappointed love than real aggression, you know, and we have to accept that"
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alex Neil, Norwich City manager:
"I thought they played really, really well. I thought we came with a good game plan. I thought we played against a really good side and limited them to very little and looked very dangerous on the break. First half, I thought we made Petr Cech pull off three or four really good saves which potentially, we could have done a bit better with."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alex Neil, Norwich City manager:
"I think the more the games whittle down and you don't pick up wins, then obviously you start to think 'we need to pick up this win sooner rather than later, but I think looking at the performance today, coming to a real, real tough place, one of the hardest places in the league to win, I think that the players showed as much committment and endeavour and effort and quality at times that we can ask, so that's all I can ask of my players and I couldn't have asked much more of them today. But, I need that on all three times between now and the end of the season."
