Saracens beat Wasps 24-17 in Reading on Saturday (23rd April) to reach next month's European Rugby Champions Cup final in France.

It was an all English affair in the first semi-final of the European Champions Cup on Saturday as Saracens took on Wasps.

There was drama from the off as Dan Robson broke away in the second minute to open the scoring in Wasps' favour.

Saracens thought they'd clawed their way back into the game in the 17th minute when Duncan Taylor appeared to touch down, following an error by Frank Halai.

However, the TMO ruled Halai had been fouled by Chris Ashton, meaning the try was disallowed.

Sarries did eventually get on the score sheet in the 29th minute via Michael Rhodes' try.

The second half saw Owen Farrell involved in a dangerous tackle on Wasps' Robson that resulted in a stretch in the sin-bin for the Saracens man.

Despite going a man down Saracens maintained their 14-10 advantage.

And they stretched that lead further after a kick out by Wasps’ Simon McIntyre was punished with a yellow card and a Farrell penalty.

Saracens firmly tightened their grip on the match when they were awarded a penalty try with seven minutes remaining. Farell converted to give his side a 14 point cushion.

A converted Ashley Johnson try gave Wasps late hope, but it was Saracens who ran out 24-17 winners to reach their first Champions Cup final where they'll face either Leicester Tigers or Racing 92.
