Howe: Stoke still dangerous

Saturday, February 13 2016 by SNTV
  • Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe on Friday (12 February) looked ahead to Saturday's (13 February) English Premier League match at home to Stoke City.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Eddie Howe, Bournemouth manager:

(On Stoke City, who have lost their last three Premier League games 3-0.)

"You know, watching their games there's been very little between them and the other sides, and yet they've had a couple of disappointing results. But they're still the same team, they've got very dangerous individuals, from our perspective who we need to be aware of. They've got a lot of quality in their team, so we expect a very difficult test."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Eddie Howe, Bournemouth manager:

(On forward Benik Afobe. Speaking to fans on Wednesday (10 February), Wolverhampton Wanderers' head of football development and recruitment Kevin Thelwell said: "Benik was no longer trying to play for us." Afobe scored 10 times in 27 appearances for Wolves in 2015-16 prior to signing for Bournemouth in January.)

"Yeah, I think from our perspective we're only worried about the future and not the past. I think what happened with Benik and Wolves (Wolverhampton Wanderers) is really their relationship and their story - I don't think it's anything to do with us. We, when signing Benik, acted in absolutely the right way and were delighted to get the player, and he's started so well for us. So, with Benik I'd rather talk about how well he's done and the future... and I think Benik's the same. I think his mindset is to focus on us and, you know, the game tomorrow, rather than worrying about comments that are made by his former club."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Eddie Howe, Bournemouth manager:

(On matchday tickets issue of high prices.)

"We have a different problem here. Our problem is our supporters actually getting tickets because of the small stadium, small capacity that we have. You know, I'm getting several letters every week, and I have throughout the season, saying 'can you do something to get me a ticket? I've been a supporter, a loyal supporter for a long time.' And some of the letters are tough to read because people actually can't get in to watch us. So, a slightly different problem. I mean, on ticket prices itself, obviously I think every football manager would say the same - we're not responsible for ticket prices and we'd like all football fans to watch as many games as they can for as cheap a price as possible."
