"Very exciting day, first day, first time to name the squad. We've picked a squad of 33 players. The first job is to beat Scotland on the 6th February at Murrayfield. We have picked a combination of guys who played for England and then we have picked some guys with some potential that we believe can go on and be very good players."

"Well we are not going to have any six-and-a-halfs. We are going to have a six and a seven. We will be looking to pick a six and a seven, you know Chris Robshaw has been doing exceedingly well at six, maybe because he got half a number off his back, but he's been playing brilliantly so he is going to push very hard to get into the team at six."

"Well there are a lot of disappointed players out there, you know I spent yesterday afternoon speaking to a lot of the players. I'm not going to go through each player individually, I've spoken to each of the players, whether they remember the conversation or not I am not sure, but they know what they have got to do to get into the squad and there have been some close calls on a number of players."

"We want them to enjoy playing for England and we want to play a brand of rugby that suits England's characteristics, so we want to have that real strong set piece. We want to have a dominant scrum, we want to have a good line-out but then we have to be able to move the ball and I think that if you look at the squad there are backs there that are capable of moving the ball. Understanding how to move the ball, where to move the ball too is what we have to learn."

"I've chatted to Cockers (Leicester coach Richard Cockerill) and at this stage it looks like he (Manu Tuilagi) will be ready for the Wales game, so hopefully we will get him for the last two games of the Six Nations but you never know he might come through very quick."
