Monday, November 23 2015 by SNTV
  • Bayern Munich opened up an eight-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings thanks to a 3-1 win at Schalke on Saturday (November 21st) evening.

League leaders Bayern Munich travelled to Schalke looking to maintain their 13 game unbeaten streak.

Although Schalke frustrated their opponents, Bayern took the lead after nine minutes.

David Alaba's shot deflecting off Leon Goretzka on its way past Ralf Fahrmann.

Max Meyer equalised for the hosts in the 17th minute and then the game opened up.

In an evenly-matched affair, it was Javi Martinez who restored Bayern's lead, midway through the second half.

And in added time Thomas Mueller punished the some careless defence, completing the 3-1 scoreline.

That's 12 wins and a draw now for Bayern, meaning they go eight points clear at the top.

Schalke dropped to seventh with 20 points.
