Jonah Lomu: New Zealand will come to "standstill" during final

Monday, October 26 2015 by SNTV
  • Jonah Lomu talks about New Zealand's progress to the Rugby World Cup final and reflects on the tournament as a whole

    Script:

A tense 20-18 win over South Africa at Twickenham gave New Zealand the opportunity to do something that has never been done in rugby - successfully defend a World Cup.

After missing out my some of the narrowest of margins, New Zealand eventually captured their second World Cup title in Auckland in 2011, to sit alongside their 1987 triumph which was also on home soil.

They will now face either Australia of Argentina in the 2015 final at Twickenham on Saturday (31st October) in a match that former player Jonah Lomu believes will eclipse anything they have previously achieved in rugby.

Speaking on Sunday (25th October) the iconic winger, who reached the 1995 final with New Zealand, was thrilled that the All Blacks have reached the final once again, and looking forward to a highly competitive game between Australia and Argentina in the second semi-final.

He also hailed the tournament as a whole and argued that the failure of any northern hemisphere teams to reach the final four was a matter of the smallest margins possible in sport.
