Dejected England mull over defeat to Wales

  • Reaction from Twickenham after Wales defeated England 28-25 in a thrilling Rugby World Cup contest on Saturday (26th September).

Script: SOUNDBITE (English) Mako Vunipola, England Prop:

"Obviously we're gutted. The first emotion is that the final whistle just went there and we let ourselves down a bit. Fair play to the Welsh they came at us and threw everything at us and we just couldn't handle it today. We're just got to focus on next week now."

SOUNDBITE (English) Dan Cole, England Prop:

"I think it's frustrating because we had an opportunity to put the game away and we didn't. Credit to Wales they came back and got the victory but it's tough because we feel we were in a position to win the game."

SOUNDBITE (English) Ben Youngs, England Scrum Half:

"It's one of pure disappointment to be honest with you. I felt we were in control of that game for 72 minutes until they scored that try so we're very disappointed. We want to make sure we learn the lessons of tonight and discipline is one that springs to mind, closing the game out as well. We weren't able to do that tonight so we're disappointed but tomorrow we dust ourselves down, focus on Australia. It's our World Cup final next weekend and we've still got everything to play for. We've got to make sure we crack on, show a good amount of resilience and I'm sure we will."
