England confirmed Owen Farrell, Sam Burgess, and Brad Barritt will be its inside backs for the crunch Rugby World Cup pool match against Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.

England hinted at the change two days before the team announcement on Thursday.

Two were forced by injuries to outside centre Jonathan Joseph and No. 8 Ben Morgan, who injured a pectoral muscle and knee respectively in the tournament-opening win against Fiji.

They are also doubtful for the third Pool C match against Australia.

England also make a change at fly half - George Ford dropped in favour of Owen Farrell.

Ford has been Stuart Lancaster's preferred number 10 since last November's home series.

And was regarded as the inspiration for England's new, bold approach in the Six Nations, but he appears to have paid for some flat performances in the warm-ups and against Fiji.

Burgess, who switched to rugby union only 11 months ago, has replaced his Bath teammate Jonathan Joseph and is in at No. 12 for his first start in a competitive match.

Saracens' Brad Barritt shifts from inside to outside center.

Billy Vunipola, who scored the last-gasp bonus-point try against Fiji, slots in at No. 8 for Morgan.

Wales opened their World Cup campaign with a 54-9 win over Uruguay, and will be looking to maintain that momentum against England.
