Wales squad sing for Prince William

Tuesday, September 22 2015 by SNTV
  • Warren Gatland's Wales side sing in front of Prince William at their official Rugby World Cup welcome ceremony in London ahead of Saturday's crunch match against England.

Script: SOUNDBITE: (English) HRH The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, Vice-Royal Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union:

"First off, thank God the Welsh team play rugby better than they sing! I never knew Shaun Edwards could reach such a high level! As a very big rugby fan and a very proud Vice-Royal Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, I'm ugly excited to be here today to present the team with their highly-prized World Cup caps. It is a magnificent achievement for you all to be here, whether as players, management or support staff. I will have been a long arduous road for many of you to get to represent your country at a World Cup. I know you will all be fearsomely proud at being a part of this team."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Sam Warburton, Wales captain:

"I'd like to thank His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge - we have met before and he's met the lads but this is a slightly more formal occasion as we're normally in our pants and towels and underwear in the changing room after the game. Hopefully this is a bit more comfortable for you this time but thank you for your attendance."
