England receive official welcome to the Rugby World Cup

  • England captain Chris Robshaw admitted to nerves with the 2015 Rugby World Cup only six days away. The England squad were given a welcome ceremony at Sandhurst on Saturday (12th September) and presented caps for their participation in the tournament.

    England captain Chris Robshaw admitted that nerves had crept into the squad with the 2015 Rugby World Cup fast approaching.

    Players attended a welcome ceremony in Sandhurst on Saturday where they were presented with caps to mark their participation.

    And Robshaw revealed that the strong bond within the squad meant they are prepared for the pressure of the tournament.

    SOUDBITE:

    "I think in the squad that we have at the moment we are in a very good place where we do look after each other, if someone is under the microscope or feeling a little bit of heat then we tend to look after each other and we've all been through it before, probably not quite as much as it is going to be, but similar things and the guys who have been to previous World Cups they can hopefully give us their experience. We're looking forward to it as a 31 (man squad) and as coaches, management, we're there for each other along with our family

    The opening match of the sees England host Fiji at Twickenham in Pool A next Friday - a team Robshaw described as "extremely dangerous opposition".

    Pool A has earned the tag of pool of death' - as well as Fiji, England must play Wales, Australia and Uruguay.
