Nicklas Bendtner was the hero or Wolfsburg as they won the Gemran Super Cup for the first time in their history on Saturday (1st August), the Danish striker scoring a late equaliser and then the winning penalty as they overcame Bayern Munich at the Volkswagen Arena.

The 2015 German Sup Cup saw Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich take on German Cup winners, Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.

And it didn't take long for game's first chance when Bayern Munich's 8th minute corner fell to the feet of Jerome Boateng who's fiercly struck shot came crashing back off the crossbar.

Manuel Neuer has been revered for his sweeper keeper style of goalkeeping, but his methods proved cost his side on several occasions last season.

And when the big German decided to take matters into his own hands in the 42nd minute rather than trust his defence, he was almost caught out.

Three minutes into the restart and Bayern took the lead thanks to Arjen Robben.

Douglas Costa whipped a low cross into the box, the goalkeeper could only parry it and the Dutchman was quickest to pounce on the loose ball and thrash into the back of the net.

As the clock wound down, Wolfsburg were saved by a familiar face to Arsenal fans.

De Bruyne with the cross in the middle, Nicklas Bendtner producing an excellent finish into the roof of the net to give Neuer no chance and send the game to penalties.

When Xabi Alonso had his spot-kick saved by Casteels, it was up to Bendtner to seal the win and he did just that with another perfect finish.

The win means Wolfsburg became German Super Cup champions for the first time in their history.
