SOUNDBITE: (English) John Terry, Chelsea captain

(on his side's defence of the English Premier League title):

"It's very difficult to do. You don't see many teams win it first and foremost, but to retain it, literally everyone wants to beat you the following year. So, as I said before, we're well aware of that. No different really to last year - everybody wanted to beat Chelsea because we started so well and we was the team to beat and we managed to stay there all season, which is a feat in its own. So we go again and, as you say, we really want to retain it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Asmir Begovic, Chelsea goalkeeper

(on battling Thibaut Courtois for the goalkeeping position):

"Well of course I'm here to compete, obviously. That's my goal, that's my aim. My biggest aim is to be part of this team, part of this club. It's special to be here. I'm obviously very happy to be here and I'm ultimately here to be part of the team and help this team be successful and help this club to be successful. I think what we strive for is to win trophies and be champions and win as many competitions as we can and I want to be part of that. Obviously I want to play as many games as I can as possible and that's what I'll try and do."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Cahill, Chelsea defender

(on facing former team-mate Petr Cech when they meet Arsenal in the Community Shield):

"It will be strange because he's been a fixture here for many years. A great guy, top player. So, we've got Thibaut (Courtois) now and, no disrespect to Pete, a total different kind of age gap there. So, he's fantastic. He's one of the best 'keepers.... well sorry, last season we had two of the best 'keepers in the world really, amongst a few others, but, so we was really blessed with that. Obviously Pete's left now, so he's gone to a new chapter and we've got a great 'keeper, and they (Arsenal) have got a great 'keeper."
