  • Intro:

    FC Barcelona defeat LA Galaxy 2-1 in International Champions Cup match in California, USA on Tuesday (July 21).

    Script:

    Over 93,000 fans packed into the Rose Bowl to watch LA Galaxy against FC Barcelona for the International Champions Cup

    It was the biggest crowd for a club soccer game involving an MLS team in U.S. history; and it involved some of the biggest names in football;

    Former Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez reunited before the game,

    And it was Suarez who gave Barcelona the lead; a neat flick from Marc Bartra was met by Suarez, who still had it all to do, but found the back of the net with a clinical half volley on the stroke of half time.

    The Spanish side controlled the first half, and on 56 minutes it was two nil; Barcelona took advantage of LA Galaxy's sloppiness in possession. Munir El Haddadi cut the ball back, and it eventually fell to Sergi Roberto who slammed the ball home.

    The American side did pull a goal back though. A minute into stoppage time and Tommy Meyer headed in a corner to deny Barcelona a clean sheet.

    The record crowd went home happy; largely supporting Barcelona.

    2-1 the final score.
