    The Briton was competing in his second race since doping claims against his coach Alberto Salazar and recorded 3:28.93 seconds; just a tenth of a second outside his personal best.

    Victory went to Asbel Kiprop, who clocked three minutes 26.69 seconds; just seven tenths off Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj's world record set in 1999 and the fastest 1500m in 14 seasons.

    Briton Christine Ohuruogu finished fourth in the 400m in 50.82 seconds.

    American world indoor champion Francena McCorory triumphing in 49.83.

    Ethiopia's Genzebe Dibaba set a new 1500m world record of three minutes 50.08 seconds.

    Britain's Laura Muir came fifth, breaking her own Scottish record in 3:58.66. Only 2004 Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes has run faster among Britons.

    American Justin Gatlin -- who has served two doping bans -- won the 100m in 9.78 seconds.

    Compatriot Tyson Gay -- who has also faced a drugs suspension -- finished second in 9.97 ahead of France's Jimmy Vicaut and Britain's Chijindu Ujah.
