SOUNDBITE (English) Jill Ellis, USA coach: (on her thoughts about the game)

"I thought that it was an unbelievable duel between two tremendous teams. Germany is a great opponent and really tested us and pushed us. But obviously we're delighted to be moving on. Our focus, we'll enjoy this tonight, and then our focus will immediately turn to our next opponent. We'll find out who that is tomorrow. But just really really pleased and proud of the players. I thought that they stepped up and did a fantastic job tonight."

SOUNDBITE (English) Carli Lloyd, USA captain: (on the game)

"We started this tournament saying that it was going to take 23 players and Kelly O'Hara coming in (off the bench) and scoring her first goal was tremendous and everybody has contributed and it's just been a collective team performance but we didn't come here to just make the final, we came here to win it so we've got to go after it next game."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jill Ellis, USA coach: (on referee decisions including the penalty and lack of red card, going their way)

"Honestly, I think it's just a part of the game in terms of the officials. So whether I'm on the receiving end or the other end of it, it's not something that I usually comment or criticise. But I also thought that between the 18s (the boxes) we were a very good team."
