  • Intro:

The Australian judiciary are investigating payment into account controlled by Jack Warner during the World Cup bidding process which the Australians were involved in.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Nick Xenophon, Australian Senator:

"The FFA (Football Federation Australia) that made a payment to Mr (Jack) Warner - and I'm not suggesting they did anything wrong in making that payment - that needs to be reported to the FBI, to the authorities in the US, who are investigating these matters because this is a serious issue, given the charges against Mr Warner."

SOUNDBITE (English) Nick Xenophon, Australian Senator:

"Forty-five million (Australian) dollars of our tax payers' funds were blown in a process (Australia's World Cup hosting bid) where we never had a chance."
SOUNDBITE (English) Bonita Mersiades, former employee of Football Federation Australia):

"These allegations are not new, they've been around for decades. And it is time for some sort of clean sweep of the organisation (FIFA) to come in and change it."
