I think all the supporters connected with Liverpool today will all be embarrassed by that. They deserve an apology because in the first half we were too easily beaten - and, ok, they scored a couple of wonder goals - but we have got to be much better than that. Like we showed in the second half. But in the first half, the game was dead.

"We couldn't have asked for any better. It was a really great end to the season from our part. More difficult this year was the amount of injuries that we had to cope with but I have to say that the level of the performance certainly in that first 45 minutes was exceptional and I don't think that reflects badly on Liverpool. I just think certainly that first 45 minutes, I think most teams would have struggled to cope with the quality and the intensity of the play. And as a consequence we were able to take the game away from them. We are delighted. It was never going to hit the same heights in the second half. But still great to see Peter (Crouch) get the final goal and beat the record of Premier League headed goals so, all in all, a really great finish to a really good season."
