The fastest man on earth arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday to race a 100-metre challenge.

Usain Bolt's first stop was at the Olympic Centre at Mangueira favela complex, the third oldest slum in the city.

He visited the centre's basketball court and tried some free throws and dunks.

Later, he raced with athletes who live in the favela and practised at the track at the shantytown.

Bolt spoke when leaving the complex, saying that he's very excited and looking forward to participating at next year's Olympic Games, the last of his career.

"Yeah, definitely will be my last one (Olympic Games participation). But I am looking forward to it. I am really excited now that it is getting closer. The closer it gets more excited I get. So, I am just happy to be here every year, just to compete and I am looking forward to next year."

The Jamaican will be in Rio until Sunday, where he will be racing against other athletes at a track especially built at Jockey Club Brasileiro
