SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager:
"I think the importance of the occasion should not be missed. We've played four games now and picked up seven points. Naturally I'm delighted to have got something in the Germany game, brilliant effort. I'm disappointed to lose in Scotland. I've said all along that our games at home will shape our destiny, this is the first one of them, the first one of a group of games. Nevertheless a very important one against a team that have started off brilliantly in the competition. So it might not decide everything but it's very, very important."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Robbie Keane, Republic of Ireland captain:
"I think like the gaffer said earlier on, everyone's just excited to get the game going. It's been a few months coming now and since the last game against Scotland the players are certainly desperate to play another game. You could see that in training this week - the atmosphere, the intensity of the training has been very, very good. The lads have been sharp so we're just excited now to get it going."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Martin O'Neill, Republic of Ireland manager (on Poland's team and striker Robert Lewandowski):
"I think absolutely he's a top class player. He's one of the best strikers in European football and playing for a side (Bayern Munich) that are capable of winning any competition in Europe. He's very, very important to them but he is not the only player. We've seen this in the group - they're not a one man team. They've got a number of top quality individuals playing in their side who are able to create things for them so I wouldn't just get carried away with one player."
