Thailand hosted southeast Asian rivals Singapore in an international friendly on Thursday in Korat to mark 50 years of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Both teams wore black armbands and held a minute's silence before kick-off in memory of Singapore's founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away earlier this week.

Thailand had the first chance in the 15th minute, Jakkapan Pornsai's freekick beat the wall, but curled just wide of the post.

12 minutes later and Sahil Suhaimi had a chance to put the visitors in front but his tricky header was always going over the crossbar.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the first half, but Adisak Kraisorn should of put Thailand in front in the first minute of the second.

Unmarked inside the box he couldn't find the target.

The constant Thai pressure finally brought results in the 87th minute when Suttinun Phukhom headed home from Theeraton's free kick.

Thailand added a second in stoppage time. Pokklaw Anan flicking the ball over goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud.

A lovely finish and one that settled the match. It ended Thailand 2, Singapore 0.
