Fans gathered to watch Argentina train ahead of their friendlies against El Salvador and Ecuador but where was the man they all wanted to see?

Word had got out that an injury to the Lionel Messi's right foot was being examined by a doctor earlier in the day.

However, the 27 year-old forward got a clean bill of health and re-joined his teammates on the campus of Georgetown University for a brisk workout.

It initially looked as if the Argetina captain may not take part in training; Messi took a knock during Barcelona's 2-1 win over arch rivals Real Madrid. But he was on the field along with the rest of his compatriots from the beginning.

Dressed in the team kit, along with black tights, Messi showed no ill effects from the injury, as he was racing back and forth and taking his turn in various games and drills. His efforts were applauded by a strong group of fans invited by the Argentinian embassy in Washington.

Also on the pitch with Messi were the likes of Angel di Maria, Javier Mascherano, Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta.

Plenty of stars on show; as Argentina play their first two games of 2015; looking for two wins.
